Italy-Earthquake

The quake of 6.3 magnitude happened at around 3.32a.m.(9.32a.m. Singapore Time GMT +8.00) on Monday, 6 April 2009, Central Italy, L'Aquila(42.334°N, 13.334°E). The earthquake had left about killed at least 287, injured 1500 and destroyed some 10000 to 15000 were either damaged or destroyed. It was estimated that about 100,000 were left homeless. The government had been readying Stadiums and Sporting Fields to house the homeless. The government offered incentives for people who used anti-seismic technology, and promised monthly payments to those residents who had lost their livelihoods.
I think that the immediately after earthquake tremors are felt, A distress signal should be sounded to alert residents so that they can evacuate the area to a safe place. Residents should also be mentally prepared in times of crisis, and they should learn what they should do during an earthquake.

CRUSTAL PLATE MOVEMENTS
Two crustal plates are scraped by one another, building friction between the crustal plates. It can be so strong that large strains are built up before they are relieved by large earthquakes periodically.
